In Wickfield, Mass. (just outside Boston) a quiet clean-cut young man confesses to murdering his wife. A local attorney who is dying agrees to see the man and comes away feeling there is a more to the case than premeditated murder. He finds there are motives involving the man's "pure" mother and "tramp" wife. Helping this man brings peace to the dying attorney.
